Krešimir Stražanac

One of the most widely travelled Croatian singers of his generation, Krešimir Stražanac made his debut with the Berlin Philharmonic and Kirill Petrenko in 2023, with concerts in Berlin, Madrid and Barcelona; the Europakonzert recording from the Sagrada Família was broadcast by radio and television stations worldwide.

He studied with Dunja Vejzović and lied with Cornelis Witthoefft in Stuttgart, then spent seven seasons as a permanent member of the Zurich Opera, singing Harlequin, Baron Tusenbach, Ping and Don Fernando under conductors including Bernard Haitink, Nello Santi and Franz Welser-Möst. He has a particular affinity for rarely performed operas, taking title roles in Telemann's Orpheus in Amsterdam and Caccini's Liberation of Ruggiero at the Theater an der Wien.

As a concert soloist he performs across Europe, Asia and North America in the major oratorio and symphonic repertoire, from Bach's Passions and Handel's Messiah to Beethoven's Missa solemnis and Mahler's cycles, working regularly with Philippe Herreweghe, Collegium Vocale Gent and the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées. He gives lied recitals throughout Europe, Japan and Brazil, and his discography spans labels from Accentus and Carus to Decca and Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
